While Paul calls us to remember he doesn’t leave us wallowing in self-pity. No, the gospel is better than that. We are embraced by the Father who loves us.
I love how Eugene Peterson says this in the Message:
It’s a wonder God didn’t lose his temper and do away with the whole lot of us. Instead, immense in mercy and with an incredible love, he embraced us. He took our sin-dead lives and made us alive in Christ. He did all this on his own, with no help from us! Then he picked us up and set us down in highest heaven in company with Jesus, our Messiah. (Eph 2:3-6)
What a beautiful picture of grace! “Immense in mercy and with an incredible love, he embraced us.” This thought is so overwhelming as render me incapable of clearly communicating. It speaks for itself does it not?
Let those words wash over you. Rest in them. Know they are true.
How does knowing that God, immense in mercy and with an incredible love embraced you?
